Leader Street School of Music - Greg Hart
Greg Hart – Guitar Lessons + Vocal Lessons

Greg has been singing and playing in bands since he was a child, and at 11 began saxophone lessons at the John Reynolds School of music.

Greg is a self-taught singer/guitar player and proud of it and believes this has made him a better teacher as he knows all the pitfalls.

He started teaching in 1979 at home then with the WEA, later with the John Reynolds School of Music. He has also taught singing at Emanuel College, Walford School for Girls and St Peters College.

Greg is a working musician playing with local bands ‘Jus-Fa-Fun’, ‘The Beavers’, and ‘The Corner Pocket Big Band’.

Greg also appears regularly in musical theatre productions and produces his own shows. He has worked on TV and radio, session work, and commercials.
Leader Street School of Music - Trish Hart
Trish Hart - Piano Lessons

Trish is a teacher of music at Walford Anglican School for Girls. She has been teaching 4 – 18 year olds over the last 30 years at Walford and has always had a keen interest in choral ensembles.

She is a familiar face around Adelaide in the local theatre scene, having played most of the lead roles in the Rogers and Hammerstein classics and a number of Sondheim musicals. She has also directed many musicals, including ‘The Sound of Music’ with The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of SA, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat for MET and musically directed ‘South Pacific’ (also with the MET) along with many other productions at Walford. Last year she appeared as Donna Sheridan in the Metropolitan Musical Theatre Company’s production of Mamma Mia at the Art’s Theatre.

Her favourite roles include Annie Oakley in “Annie Get Your Gun”, Maria in “The Sound Of Music”, the witch in “Into the Woods” and Dolly Levi in “Hello Dolly’ and now Donna Sheridan in Mamma Mia!

Trish also plays the violin, flute and piano, and can often be seen performing with her husband and his band or in one of his floor-shows around Adelaide.

Basically, she can’t get enough of music!
Leader Street School of Music - Simon Salter
Simon Salter - Drum Lessons

Simon Salter has been playing drums since 1970.

He joined the teaching staff at John Reynolds Music City in 1984, and worked alongside our other music teachers, Greg Hart and Dean Higgs.

Simon has also had tenure at various schools over the years including St Peters College, Urrbrae Agricultural School and Bowden Brompton.

Simon currently plays drums with the Rave On / Dance On Band. They have taken their act interstate and overseas, as well as performing around Adelaide on a regular basis.

Having 45 years experience of playing drums in the Adelaide music scene, Simon has gained a broad knowledge of most styles of playing. Mainstream rock, cabaret, country music, blues. He has also been involved in ethnically diverse styles, including Greek, German, Italian and Vietnamese bands.

Simon studied drums with Ray Timms, who he has now replaced at Leader Street School of Music.

Ray has now decided to retire, and we all wish Ray the very best in his retirement.

With decades of experience of playing and teaching Simon is a passionate teacher.

Dean Higgs - Guitars Lessons

I'm a full-time Professional Guitar teacher with over 30 years of experience. I started at Eastside Music Bondi Sydney, where I taught for 14 years before moving to Adelaide's John Reynolds School of Music.

I'm very excited to be establishing the new Leader Street School of Music together with Greg Hart at the Derringers Music Complex.

I have taught students covering all ability and commitment levels from absolute beginners to Aria Winners and everything in between. Students of all ages and backgrounds. Lessons are designed to be fun and educational where you will be learning in an environment designed for learning. I teach both electric and acoustic guitar, and cover all styles.
Leader Street School of Music - Dave Ross
Dave Ross - Piano Lessons + Keyboard Lessons + Music Production + Computer Music + Drum Lessons

Dave has been a professional musician for over 25 years. As a keyboard player and singer, he has toured bands and held residencies all around the country. He has backed artists including Russell Morris, Kate Ceberano, Swanee, Jim Keyes, Wendy Matthews and many more.

Music technology and production have been a big part of Dave's career writing and orchestrating hundreds of tracks for national TV and radio stations as well as developing and producing many artists and bands.

Dave is currently one of Adelaide's busiest keyboard players averaging five to six gigs a week, teaching and also doing session work. He plays keyboards for, The Hindley Street Country Club (HSCC) and release weekly tracks to the internet their YouTube channel has nearly 40 Million views! He also plays in bands, Reggae On, Oz Rox and Mojo.

Dave strives to find a balance between keeping lessons fun and interesting, whilst learning music theory and advancing further towards long-term musical goals.


Leader Street School of Music - Thomas Byrne
Thomas Byrne - Bass Lessons

Thomas Byrne is an up-and-coming professional bass player on the music scene, having graduated from the Elder Conservatorium of Music with a bachelor's degree in Music Jazz Bass in 2021.

His high school bands took him to Disney Land and the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

Professionally, he has played at COMA, The Gov, and Nineteen Ten.

Thomas feels it's a great privilege to teach at Leader Street School Of Music and will strive to make engaging lessons based on students' interests.

He teaches electric and acoustic bass guitar. Genre's covered are Rock, Pop, and Jazz.
